The Iranian craftsman in Abu Dhabi who stitched the gold embroidery on the Sheik's robes had never seen or worked from a chart before but soon worked out how to place the stitches.The women were also interested in seeing another form of embroidery which is alien to their culture. Decorative braid work in gold and silver and weaving were more traditional skills.
